Our Republican Party Needs Some Cleaning Up

The Republican Party needs to do some cleaning up in Maryland. Andy Harris, Joe Albero, G.A. Harrison, and the rest of the losers in that group need to be gone. There are so many good Republicans out there that need to stand up and take charge.

The base needs to be stirred and awoken from the dead. We need someone other than Andy Harris running for Congress, he just a bumb.

  1. Aside from Joe Albero's love of Andy Harris, what exactly is wrong with him? As someone who considers himself in a limited-government conservative mode and studies these things, I've found Andy Harris votes as I would 95% of the time and out of all 188 members of the General Assembly he has the top mark.

Now that Frank Kratovil has a record, perhaps the GOP can give he the whipping he deserved last time and send a true conservative to Congress.

  2. Most of us would prefer those representing the Republican Party on blogs were as fluent and respectful of people. Joe's rants, threats, lies, and scorched earth politics is a bad reflection on the Republican Party.

Andy Harris practices the same type of politics. The way he attacked E.J. Pipkin and lied about him in the primary was distasteful and shameful. The name calling was what he resorted to when he could not logically debate. That is why he is in that category with Joe & GA.

Many prefer your thoughtful discourse as it presents fact and is done in a respectful manner. You do not threaten people or slander them. For that, many appreciate you.

  3. I supported Harris based on his record. I might add that Pipkin was calling Harris a "dishonest Baltimore politician" as well so the mudslinging went both ways.

Much of Harris' allegation centered around Pipkin voting for state budgets Harris voted against as I recall. But Pipkin also voted for the (so-called) Healthy Air Act in 2006 and had the infamous quip about having a doctor balance the checkbook.

Had Pipkin won, I would have supported him too. The problem he had was his jumping in too late and the perception that he was only in the race to take away votes from Andy Harris, allowing Wayne Gilchrest to win the primary. The supposed quid pro quo was that Gilchrest would step aside in 2010 and annoint Pipkin as his hand-picked successor.

But I doubt Pipkin will run this time as he would need to vacate a pretty safe Maryland Senate seat.
