Become a City Council Member, do part time work and get $10,000 a year in free healthcare! Plus we will pay you!
What a joke. 2 timin', 2 faced Debbie Campbell and her evil twin Terry Cohen are milking taxpayers for thousands of dollars in free healthcare. Debbie even ridiculed Michael Day, her opponent in 2005, for using it. Then Debbie turns around in less than 2 years and signs up her and her family.
So the financial Watch Dawg does not mind trimming the fat except when it directly affects her. Never mind about public safety, so we look for used fire trucks and used police cars. Never mind that we gut the zoo budget and fire half the staff.
Think Debbie or Terry will move to place it back in the budget? Go ahead and try.
These two have no integrity. I would call Mrs. Campbell's campaign signs false advertisement.

ReplyDeleteCouncilwoman Cohen: I move we place the Health Insurance Benefit back in the 2010 budget for City Council Members. I think this was a direct attack from the Wicked Witch of Monitor Court. Thank you Councilwoman Campbell for warding off her mind control tactics.
Councilwoman Campbell: I second this motion.
Council President Smith: We have a motion and a second. Any discussion.
Council Vice President Comegys: I don't particularly see the need for this benefit. This is a part time position and most part time jobs don't have benefits. How can we be responsible with taxpayers money when the City Charter does not require this as a part of the compensatory package for City Council Members.
Councilwoman Cohen: Mr. Comegys with all due respect, not everyone has the ability to have benefits even from full time work. Time and again this council has done things that have wasted taxpayers money. This is just a small fraction of what you have wasted on that Fire Palace, the Waste water Treatment Plant, the Waverly Drive Storm Drain Project. The list goes on and on.
Councilwoman Shields: Mrs. Cohen, this is costing taxpayers almost $50,000 a year. I didn't run for city council for the benefits. I ran to serve. Now that new fire station is serving a part of town that has been ignored for years because it isn't Camden. I guess not enough people there look like you and Mrs. Campbell. Mrs. Campbell won't even walk down Camden into District 1 with Police. That $50,000 could almost pay for a new police officer you all want so bad.
Councilwoman Campbell: I am going to offer a solution. How about we change the city charter so that any council person with children living at home get $25,000 a year plus Health Insurance. Those that are retired or don't have children at home get $5,000 and no Health Insurance.
Council President Smith: Is that in the form of an amendment to the current amendment on the table?
Councilwoman Campbell: Yes it is madame President.
Council President Smith: Is there a second?
Councilwomen Cohen: Second.
Council President Smith: All those favor say aye.
Cohen & Campbell: Aye
Comegys, Smith, & Shields: Nay
Council President Smith: Now for motion to add Health Insurance back into budget, all those in favor say aye.
Campbell & Cohen: Aye
Council President Smith: Those opposed.
Comegys, Smith & Shields: Nay.
Council President Smith: The Nays have it.
Councilwoman Cohen: YOU PEOPLE ARE SO RACIST AND BIGOTED! I AM ASHAMED OF THIS COUNCIL THAT YOU DEPRIVE HEALTHCARE FROM WOMEN AND CHILDREN! YOU PEOPLE ARE LIKE OUR SOLDIERS IN IRAQ --- BABY KILLERS.
Councilwomen Campbell: I am so disgusted that you would stoop to the levels you have tonight. This council has ignored the will of the people once again. The people of this city know what I and Terry deserve and how we should be treated. The Great Camden Neighborhood Association will not let this stand.
Councilwomen Campbell and Cohen storm out of the Council Chambers. Stevie Prettyman gets up and glares at Gary Comegys, then storms out.
